Registered Nurse, Oncology Nurse Navigator

Our research has led to numerous breakthroughs, including cancer medicines, synthetic insulin, and monoclonal antibodies. As a top-ranked comprehensive cancer center, City of Hope integrates cancer care, research, education, and philanthropy across multiple locations including Los Angeles, Orange County, Atlanta, Chicago, and Phoenix.

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse, Oncology Nurse Navigator to support our hospital mission by providing nursing and case management services. The role involves assessing, coordinating, planning, monitoring, and evaluating patient care to ensure optimal outcomes. The nurse will perform assessments, deliver direct and indirect patient care, and support the healthcare team in managing patient needs across the continuum of care.

The successful candidate:

  • Provides disease management with understanding of oncology, chemotherapy, and side effects; monitors and addresses symptoms; educates patients and families about disease and treatment plans; documents assessments and interventions promptly in the electronic medical record; collaborates with providers and supports care coordination.
  • Triages patient issues efficiently via in-person or telephone consultations; intervenes appropriately with orders or interdisciplinary team consultation; addresses health concerns in cooperation with clinical and clerical team members.
  • Acts as a communication resource among physicians, patients, families, and healthcare team members, including external agencies; provides patient education and documents it in the EHR.
  • Performs tasks according to facility policies, procedures, and regulations, including central line care, patient education, procedure assistance, and medication administration.
  • Works collaboratively to enhance patient satisfaction, achieve positive outcomes, and ensure efficient service delivery; covers team members as needed.
  • Must be able to work ONSITE Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, at two locations: Zion (Mondays and Tuesdays) and Morton Grove (Wednesday to Friday).

Qualifications:

  • Current IL RN license
  • BSN or higher preferred
  • 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience, with surgery and wound care preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • OCN and Bio/Chemo certifications preferred
