Job summary

SoftPath Medical is seeking a 1st-timer travel nurse for the 12 James PCU unit, covering day/night shifts. This mixed acuity floor handles PCU and medical-surgical patients with high activity and frequent float requirements.

Experience in acute care, including at least 1 year in PCU, is required alongside BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. EPIC charting and parking options are provided by the agency.

Job description

1st Timer/16 Weeks/12 James PCU - Day/Night or Night Shifts - AO

12 James Surgical Oncology is a mixed-acuity unit providing care for both PCU and Medical-Surgical patients. This is a high-activity surgical floor where all permanent staff are PCU trained.

Staffing ratios aim for 1:4 but may occasionally be 1:5.

Weekend shifts vary based on unit needs.

There is no set or blocked scheduling, as this is not offered to permanent staff.

All travelers may be required to float within their scope of practice.

If you accept a 12 Day/Night rotating contract, you may be scheduled for day shifts, night shifts, or a combination of both depending on departmental needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; however, changes are not guaranteed and depend on staffing priorities at that time.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, including at least 1 year of PCU experience.

Patient Diagnoses

• Surgical Oncology: breast, thyroid, melanoma
• Hepatobiliary: liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract cancers, neuroendocrine tumors
• Colorectal: colon and rectal cancer
• Plastics: reconstructive breast cancer or sarcoma
