Job summary

The MetroHealth System seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient Medical Surgical Float Pool at MetroHealth Main Campus- Glick. You will support Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, and General Medicine units with rotating 7p-7a and 7a-7p shifts.

Ideal candidates hold Ohio RN licensure and BLS; BSN is a plus. MetroHealth offers education support, tuition reimbursement, certification incentives, and comprehensive medical/dental insurance as a public employer

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing and Ohio RN licensure.
• Current BLS healthcare provider certification, or obtained within 90 days.
• Minimum 1 year inpatient RN experience; PRN requires 1 year experience.

Responsibilities

• Float between units: Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, General Medicine.
• Provide direct patient care including assessments, procedures, and safety checks.
• Collaborate with LPNs, PCNAs, providers, PT/OT to coordinate care.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00
Shift: Primary 7p-7a, Secondary 7a-7p; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population

• Variety of complex medical disorders

Primary Skills Utilized/learned

• IV placement, blood draws, foley catheter insertion/removal
• Tracheostomy care, NG placement, PEG tube, various drains, wound care
• Time management, critical thinking, and delegating

Personnel RN Will Work With

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT/OT, WOCN

Units RN Will Float

• Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, General Medicine

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire
• 1 year of inpatient RN experience
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
