Job summary

Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville, IN, seeks a Nurse Leader to oversee NICU nursing and support staff on the night shift. This full-time role requires clinical expertise, staff education, and scheduling oversight.

You will assign and monitor care, ensure staffing meets patient needs, handle complaints, and contribute to hiring and ongoing staff development in a high-acuity neonate unit.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire date or job transfer date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing required prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• STABLE Program certification preferred.
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.

• Meet with staff and exercise independent judgment to plan the shifts, services, and patient care.
• Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring population appropriate patient care and accountability for productivity standards and justifying variances to unit manager or designee.
• Respond to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels.
• Facilitate availability of adequate material, resources and supplies.
• Set priorities appropriate to daily patient/physician dynamics.
• Provide input into hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program preferred.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.
