Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse Inpatient for the CDH Neuro Intermediate unit (3B). The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to acutely ill patients with neurological and spine disorders in a 24-bed neuroscience unit.

The position emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered care, and adherence to ANA standards. Requirements include a BSN, Illinois RN license, and BLS; ADN with commitment to BSN is acceptable.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to acutely ill patients following the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary health team to deliver evidence-based care.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and maintain ANA standards of professional nursing practice.

Full-Time Days 7am-7:30pm with rotating weekends

CDH Neuro Intermediate (3B)

• 24 bed neurosciences unit providing care to patients requiring medical and surgical treatment of acute neurological and spine disorders
• Neurological conditions include acute and stable traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, stroke, spinal injury, seizure, and acute inflammation or infections of the CNS. Neurosurgical patients include aneurysm repair, CS leaks & lumbar drains, post-op neurosurgical and spinal patients.

TheStaff Nurse Inpatientreflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with others
• Strong analytic abilities

*Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role.

Preferred:

• Experience in Neurosciences
