Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Neuroscience Center's Neuro ICU. You will provide detailed neurological assessments, monitor critical patients, and titrate medications in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include ventilator management, telemetry, and collaboration with physicians, therapists, and nursing staff to optimize stroke care and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Ohio licensure.
• Current AHA BLS for healthcare providers certification.
• Stroke/neurocritical care knowledge preferred.
• BSN and Magnet certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed neurological assessments and continuous monitoring.
• Manage ICU nursing tasks including ventilators, drains, and telemetry.
• Titrate medications and respond to neurological changes.
• Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team to support stroke patients.
• Maintain accurate delegations and time management in busy shifts.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7a-7p/7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Adult
• Ischemic/Hemorrhagic Strokes
• Status Epilepticus
• Encephalitis
• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
• Intracranial Hemorrhage
• Stroke
• Minor Neurological Disorders

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Detailed Neurological assessments
• ICP Monitoring
• Medication titration
• Managing surgical drains, mechanical ventilators, body temperature, & CRRT
• Neurological patient care; NIHSS Certification for Stroke care
• Telemetry monitoring
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating
• Seizure disorder monitoring/ care

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Respiratory Therapy, Social Work, Speech Therapy, PT, OT, Dietary

Number of beds on unit:

• 24 beds

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
