Job summary

MetroHealth Neuroscience Center at Main Campus in Cleveland, OH is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Neuroscience/Stroke unit. The unit has 24 beds and a rotating schedule (7a–7p/7p–7a) with weekends and holidays on rotation.

The RN will perform detailed neurological assessments, monitor ICP/telemetry, manage vents and drains, and deliver high-quality patient care. Requirements include graduation from an accredited nursing program, active Ohio RN licensure, and BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program; Ohio RN licensure required.
• Active BLS for Healthcare Provider (AHA) or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: BSN and Magnet-recognized certification.

Primary Patient Population

• Adult
• Ischemic/Hemorrhagic Strokes
• Status Epilepticus
• Encephalitis
• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
• Intracranial Hemorrhage
• Stroke
• Minor Neurological Disorders

Primary skills utilized/learned

• Detailed Neurological assessments
• ICP Monitoring
• Medication titration
• Managing surgical drains, mechanical ventilators, body temperature, & CRRT
• Neurological patient care; NIHSS Certification for Stroke care
• Telemetry monitoring
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating
• Seizure disorder monitoring/ care

Personnel RN will work with

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Respiratory Therapy, Social Work, Speech Therapy, PT, OT, Dietary

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
