Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Neuroscience Center, 24-bed unit at the Main Campus- Glick. The role includes detailed neurological assessments, monitoring ICP, titrating medications, and caring for patients with stroke and other neuro conditions.

Shift is 7a–7p with rotating weekends and holidays. The ideal candidate will have an accredited nursing program degree, Ohio RN licensure, and BLS either now or within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the State of Ohio.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide neurological nursing care to adult patients.
• Monitor ICP, mechanical ventilators, body temperature, CRRT as needed.

Primary Patient Population:

• Adult
• Ischemic/Hemorrhagic Strokes
• Status Epilepticus
• Encephalitis
• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
• Intracranial Hemorrhage
• Stroke
• Minor Neurological Disorders

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Detailed Neurological assessments
• ICP Monitoring
• Medication titration
• Managing surgical drains, mechanical ventilators, body temperature, & CRRT
• Neurological patient care; NIHSS Certification for Stroke care
• Telemetry monitoring
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating
• Seizure disorder monitoring/ care

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Respiratory Therapy, Social Work, Speech Therapy, PT, OT, Dietary

Number of beds on unit:

• 24 beds

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
