Job summary

MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute–Old Brooklyn is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Neuro Trauma Recovery Spinal Cord Injury unit (6N). The role involves care for spinal cord injury patients, ventilator/trach support, SCI retraining, wound prevention, and patient/family education.

Shift is 7pm–7am with rotating weekends and holidays, on-site at MetroHealth in Cleveland, OH. Bi-weekly hours total 72, with a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 for experienced RNs and $5,000 for new grads.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire.
• BSN preferred.
• Certification in Rehabilitation Nursing or Magnet-recognized certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ventilator/Trach care for SCI patients.
• SCI retraining including bowel & bladder management.
• Wound prevention and care.
• Rehabilitation-specific education for patient and family.
• Collaborate with LPNs, PCNAs, nurses, therapists, and care team.

Primary Patient Population:

• Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Ventilator/Trach Care
• SCI retraining (Bowel & Bladder management program)
• Wound prevention and care
• Specialty treatment and technology for regain of function
• Rehabilitation specific education for patient/family

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 24 beds
