Job summary

MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute in Old Brooklyn is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Neuro Trauma Recovery Spinal Cord Injury unit (6N). You will deliver ventilator/trach care, SCI retraining, wound prevention and care, and rehabilitation-focused education for patients and families.

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide ventilator/trach care and SCI retraining.
• Prevent and manage wounds and prevent complications.
• Apply specialty treatments and technologies to support function.
• Deliver rehab-specific education to patients and families.
• Collaborate with interprofessional team including PT/OT, speech therapy, and nursing staff.

Primary Patient Population:

• Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Ventilator/Trach Care
• SCI retraining (Bowel & Bladder management program)
• Wound prevention and care
• Specialty treatment and technology for regain of function
• Rehabilitation specific education for patient/family

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 24 beds

Required Qualifications:
