Job summary

MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute– Old Brooklyn unit 6N is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Neuro Trauma Recovery Spinal Cord Injury unit. The RN will specialize in ventilator/trach care, SCI retraining, wound prevention, and rehab-specific education for patients and families.

The role requires graduate of an accredited nursing program and current Ohio RN licensure, with BLS certification (or able to obtain within 90 days).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Ohio RN licensure.
• AHA BLS for Health Care Providers required or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide ventilator/trach care.
• Administer SCI retraining (bowel & bladder management).
• Prevent and manage wounds.
• Deliver rehab-specific education to patient and family.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7p-7a; rotating weekends, rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Ventilator/Trach Care
• SCI retraining (Bowel & Bladder management program)
• Wound prevention and care
• Specialty treatment and technology for regain of function
• Rehabilitation specific education for patient/family

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 24 beds

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN
• Certification in Rehabilitation Nursing or other Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
