Job summary

MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Neuro Trauma Recovery Spinal Cord Injury unit (6N) in Old Brooklyn. The role includes ventilator/trach care, SCI retraining, wound prevention, and rehab-focused patient/family education on a 7p-7a shift with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualified candidates will hold Ohio RN licensure, with AHA BLS certification or willing to obtain within 90 days; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with RN licensure in Ohio.
• Current AHA BLS for healthcare provider or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• BSN preferred for clinical advancement and rehab specialization.

Responsibilities

• Ventilator/Trach care for SCI patients on 6N.
• SCI retraining including bowel/bladder management programs.
• Wound prevention and care for immobilized patients.
• Rehabilitation-focused education for patient and family.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: 7p-7a; rotating weekends, rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• Ventilator/Trach Care
• SCI retraining (Bowel & Bladder management program)
• Wound prevention and care
• Specialty treatment and technology for regain of function
• Rehabilitation specific education for patient/family

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers/Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians

Number of beds on unit:

• 24 beds

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtains within 90 days of hire.

• BSN
• Certification in Rehabilitation Nursing or other Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
