Indiana University Health is seeking passionate nurses to join our Mother Baby unit at Riley Maternity Services, Methodist Hospital. This Level IV perinatal center provides evidence-based postpartum care for moms and babies, with a WHO Baby Friendly designation and Magnet recognition.

Qualifications

• ASN required; BSN preferred.
• RN license in Indiana or NLC RN license required.
• Graduate from nationally accredited nursing program; exceptions for 2+ years acute care experience may apply.
• BLS certification required; ACLS or other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic obstetric and postpartum nursing care on a 28-bed Mother Baby unit.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs.
• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in alignment with unit standards and policies.

The Mother Baby unit at Riley Maternity Services at Methodist Hospital is a 28-bed unit for patients after delivery, both for the moms and babies. While the focus for our patient’s care is obstetric, we take care of the patients as holistically as possible including taking care of our patient’s complex medical, emotional, and social needs.

We are part of a level 4 perinatal center and provide top tier care to our patients during this time in their lives. Our unit focuses on evidence-based care to ensure we are providing the best, most up to date care to our patients. Because of this, we are proud to be a World Health Organization Baby Friendly designated hospital. As a unit, we have a huge focus on “team” because just as it takes a village to raise a baby, it takes a great team to provide great care to our moms and babies! An ideal candidate for the Mother/Baby unit would be someone who loves teamwork, loves to provide education and loves to spend time getting to know their patients and their individual needs.

The Clinical Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
