Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Rotating every other weekend

General Summary

Unit Description:

Henry Ford St John Hospital's MICU is a 20-bed unit. Our patient population typically consists of acute respiratory distress/failure, post cardiac arrest, sepsis and shock, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, acute and chronic renal failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, status epilepticus, and severe electrolyte abnormalities. You should expect to demonstrate your skills in mechanical ventilation management, continuous renal replacement therapy, targeted temperature management, central venous catheters, arterial midline catheters, and titratable vasoactive and sedative IV medications. Our average nurse to patient ratio is approximately 1:1-2, and we have the support of a close-knit, multidisciplinary team. We welcome nurses of all education and experience, and will ensure that you are trained to be successful in this environment.

• Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implements and monitors patient care plans.
• Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

Education/Experience Required

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.
• Pre/Post OR, or Cath Lab experience preferred.
  
  

Certifications/Licensure Required

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
