Job summary

Mercy is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for our 18-bed Medical-Surgical unit in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process to provide patient care, coordinating care with other departments, and upholding patient rights and confidentiality.

Unit focuses on pulmonary, cardiac, telemetry, and complex medical conditions, offering growth through telemetry monitoring, respiratory care, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Licensure: Current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure; must meet state board requirements.
• Certifications: American Heart Association BLS and ACLS required or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care.
• Maintains professional accountability for the provision of patient care for the assigned patients.
• Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers.
• Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments.
• Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.

• Patient Population: Our 18-bed Medical-Surgical unit cares for a diverse adult patient population, offering nurses the opportunity to build a strong and well-rounded clinical skill set. Nurses care for patients with pulmonary, cardiac, telemetry, and complex medical conditions, including COPD, pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, renal disease, diabetes complications, and other acute illnesses. This unit provides valuable experience in telemetry monitoring, respiratory care, complex medication management, patient education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, making it an excellent environment for both professional growth and development.
