Job summary

Williamson Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor & Delivery to provide obstetric, neonatal, and gynecologic nursing care during night shifts. You will deliver high-quality patient care in a holistic approach and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team in Franklin, Tennessee.

Requirements include Tennessee RN licensure, a nursing degree, BLS/NRP/ACLS, and 1+ year perinatal experience. The role emphasizes on-call readiness, strong communication, and clinical excellence.

Qualifications

  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  • Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • At least one year perinatal experience preferred.
  • NRP within 90 days of hire.
  • ACLS/ALS certification or agree to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Care of the Obstetric Patient –Level I within 1 year of hire.
  • Care of the High Risk Obstetric Patient-Level II within 1 year of hire.
  • VUMC Advanced Fetal Monitoring or AWHONN Intermediate/Advanced Fetal Monitoring within 1 year of hire.
  • Able to return to work within 1 hour when on call.
  • Perinatal Healthcare and Delivery
  • Standards equipment and ability to work under pressure in diverse settings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments on admitted patients.
  • Plan individualized patient care and educational needs.
  • Teach discharge and post-discharge care.
  • Document accurately and timely.
  • Reassess conditions and modify care plan accordingly.
  • Coordinate with staff and assign appropriate tasks.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
  • Participate in mandatory in-services and team meetings.

Job Description

To provide quality obstetric, neonatal, and gynecologic nursing care in an environment that strives to meet patient needs on a holistic level. This is done by incorporating emotional support and education with superior medical and nursing care with the aim of achieving patient well-being.

Position Requirements
  • Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  • Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • At least one year perinatal experience preferred.
  • NRP within 90 days of hire.

The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of setting.   • Perinatal/OB‑GYN unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age > ninety‑nine years of age.
  • Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
  • Able to stand/work for up to twelve hours a day.
  • Able to push/pull up to 175lbs.
  • Able to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs.
Key Results
  • Performs a comprehensive assessment on all patients within the appropriate time of admission utilizing skills of observation, communication and examination; including data obtained from patient, family and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Plans the patient's care on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems and attainable outcomes.
  • Plans for patient teaching, discharge and post discharge needs as appropriate for patient population.
  • Functions independently with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to areas evidence by adherence to policy, procedure and competency based assessment and no pattern or trend of problem.
  • Handles/ transports/ stores/ prepares/ administers medications/ solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Documents accurately and timely.
  • Reassess patient's condition, evaluate patient response and modify plan of care accordingly and in a timely manner.
  • Accepts charge responsibilities and assigns staff with consideration of patient condition and care requirement, acuity and complexity of patient's condition. Facilitates Staff development.
  • Maintains healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family.
  • Maintains position specific qualifications. Attends mandatory in‑services/staff meetings.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications, unit duties, and special assignments.
  • Maintains personal appearance in a way that reflects our professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors and co‑workers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness, and safety.
