POSITION SUMMARY

To lead and direct the activities of the hospital in the provision of administrative, clinical and non-clinical assistance in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:

  • Registered Nurse licensed by the State of Tennessee.
  • Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities and positive communication skills
  • Attains certification/course requirements for specialty within defined time frame per Williamson Health policy

Workplace Experience:
Patient Care Delivery

Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of setting. Equipment: Order Entry Computer System; Pocket Masks; O2 Cylinders; IV Pumps; Doppler; Nurse Call System; Gomco Wall Suction; Pneumatic Tube System; Fax; AT&T Language Line.

Physical Environment:
Entire hospital including medical/surgical units with patient populations ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine years of age.

Physical Effort:

  • Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
  • Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day.
  • Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  • Communicates with Administration and Department Directors on the activities/issues of Services. Gives accurate information.
  • Responsible for responding to matters requiring management attention including the management of patient emergencies, initiating appropriate hospital emergency plans and calling in assistance from other department heads and administration.
  • Works in conjunction with staffing coordinator /directors in evaluating staffing needs making adjustments as indicated by staffing plans.
  • Participates with other Healthcare Team to coordinate compliance with JCAHO standards.
  • Completes (shift work) assignments accurately and on time. (staffing numbers, administrative reports, restraint review)
  • Serves on and participates as a member of committees, process improvement teams and/or special projects.
  • Makes appropriate patient and unit rounds.
  • Works in conjunction with staffing coordinator in making appropriate bed assignments
  • Makes Tennessee Donor referrals as per policy.Serves as an administrative resource for all hospital employees.
  • Support and assures compliance with all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Practices service recovery and assists in handling patient complaints.
