Job summary

The Labor and Delivery nurse at CoxHealth South in Springfield cares for women and newborns during labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. The role is day shift with two shifts per week on site, in a high-volume obstetric unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program.

Job Description

The Labor and Delivery nurse cares for women and neonates during labor and childbirth. They are responsible for assisting, supporting, and educating families throughout the birth process. The Labor and Delivery nurse provides comprehensive, family centered nursing care to mothers and neonates during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages of delivery. The Labor and Delivery nurse must be able to recognize complications and act quickly to stabilize the situation and communicate with the patient, family, and appropriate physicians and specialists.

Education

Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience

Preferred: Previous nursing experience
