Job summary

Trinity Health's St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to support Labor and Delivery on the day shift. The position includes Part-time and Per Diem tier III employment with 144 hours per 6 weeks and 4 weekend shifts.

As an RN, you will provide direct and indirect patient care, collaborate with the care team, and ensure education, safety, and quality care across shifts. Strong L&D experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN required from an accredited school of nursing.
• PA RN License
• AHA BLS
• Prior L&D experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses learning needs and barriers; tailors education considering age, culture and values.
• Documents admission assessments, plans, interventions and medications; monitors outcomes.
• Uses information systems to improve communication and update patient status; prioritizes tasks.
• Transfers patient responsibility and information during Interprofessional Rounds.
• Recognizes patient needs and refers for abuse cases when appropriate.
• Includes pain management and supportive care in the care plan.
• Adheres to infection control; maintains a safe, clean environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Tier III Requirements: 144 hours minimum per 6 week schedule. 4 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule. 1 winter holiday and 1 spring/summer holiday.

Position Purpose

The primary objective of this position is to provide quality of care. Responsible for the direct and/or indirect care of patients assigned utilizing professional nursing skills and knowledge.

Unit Overview

Unit contains 8 labor beds, 2 triage rooms, 2 operating rooms, and 2 recovery rooms. 1:1-1:2 nurse to patient ratio.

As a Registered Nurse, you will

• Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and identify actual or potential barriers to learning and thereby incorporating the patient's education into daily activities based on age, cultural and spiritual values.

• Documents admission assessment / reassessment, plan, interventions and medication use and monitors its effects and outcomes according to policy.

• Utilizes the information management system to enhance communication and documents change in-patients condition to all appropriate individuals. Prioritizes work assignment based on changing situations.

• Communicates transfer of patient responsibility and pertinent information at the bedside and during Interprofessional Rounds

• Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care and knowledgeable in abuse recognition and referral

• Includes pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care.

• Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care and by promotes and maintains a safe, clean and orderly environment.

• Performs other duties as assigned.
