Job summary

Novant Health is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for East Cooper Medical Center in Mount Pleasant, SC. Provide compassionate care to mothers and newborns through labor, delivery, postpartum, and beyond within a Level II nursery environment.

Works on a PRN basis with a 6-shift minimum over 6 weeks, 7pm–7am, with one-call per schedule. Candidates should have a BSN preferred, current RN licensure in the state, and about a year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in appropriate state is required.
• One year of relevant experience is preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with active RN license.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate nursing care during labor, delivery, recovery and immediate postpartum.
• Monitor and respond to mothers and newborns’ needs throughout childbirth.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans.
• Educate families on labor, delivery, newborn care, breastfeeding and recovery.
• Advocate for patient safety while delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.
• Assist during deliveries and obstetric procedures while maintaining nursing excellence.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred

East Cooper Medical Center offers comprehensive maternity services, including care for high-risk pregnancies, labor and delivery support, postpartum care, and a Level II special care nursery, all backed by an experienced multidisciplinary team.

• Location: East Cooper Medical Center
• Shift: 7pm-7am
• Call: 1 call shift per schedule
• Status: PRN - minimum commitment of 6 shifts/6 weeks

What You'll Do

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period.
• Assess, monitor, and respond to the needs of mothers and newborns during all stages of childbirth.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate and support patients and families regarding labor, delivery, newborn care, breastfeeding, and recovery.
• Advocate for patient safety while delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced, dynamic clinical environment.
• Assist during deliveries, emergency situations, and obstetric procedures while maintaining the highest standards of nursing excellence.

What We're Looking For

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.

• Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
