HCA HealthONE Swedish is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist (PRN) in Interventional Radiology in Colorado. The role focuses on patient advocacy, preparation for procedures, IV access, and sedation administration. Flexibility for 8-10 hour shifts with monthly call is expected.

Requirements include an accredited Nursing degree, Colorado RN license with BLS/ACLS/PALS, and IR or critical care experience preferred. ACLS/BLS/PALS must be completed within 30 days of start date.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Colorado Registered Nurse License with current BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certification.
• 2-3 years of experience in a specialty unit (Critical Care, ED, PACU, or Radiology) highly preferred; 1 year IR experience preferred.
• Must be able to function independently, multi-task, and prioritize.
• ACLS/BLS/PALS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• RN—Registered Nurse; RN Diploma.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for patients and ensure quality care in Radiology.
• Prepare patients for procedures: verify vitals, meds, NPO status, labs, and medical history.
• Insert and remove IV lines; administer conscious sedation and other drugs.
• Monitor patient vital signs during procedures.
• Oversee safety and comfort before, during, and after procedures.
• Provide post-procedure monitoring for signs of complications.

The Registered Nurse demonstrates advanced knowledge, skills and understands the unique aspects of the population served in the care of his/her patients. Each service also requires specialized skills. The delivery of care is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient. The Registered Nurse may rotate to areas other than his/her assigned service area/s, and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency. The Registered Nurse performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at SMC.

The job duties of diagnostic and interventional radiology nurses include:

• Your role serves as a patient advocate and provides patient care through the development and implementation of ongoing systems and practices that promote and maintain quality nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the Radiology Department.
• You will preparing patients for procedures: Includes checking and verifying vital signs, meds, NPO status, lab results, and medical history
• Your role involves inserting and removing intravenous lines, as well as administering conscious sedation drugs and other drugs
• You will monitoring patient patterns and vital signs during the procedure
• You will oversee the safety and comfort of patients before, during, and after procedures
• Your role will provide post-procedure monitoring: Includes observing for signs and symptoms of complications, such as bleeding from the puncture site, pain, and/or changes in mental status or vital signs

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
• Current Colorado Registered Nurse License with current BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• 2-3 years of experience in a specialty unit (Critical Care, ED, PACU, or Radiology) highly preferred. 1 year minimum of interventional radiology experience preferred.
• Must be able to function independently, be multi-task oriented, and show excellent prioritizing skills
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
