Job summary

UAB Medicine, Alabama’s largest health system, seeks a registered nurse to provide comprehensive patient care using the nursing process, health teaching, and counseling. You will collaborate with physicians, psychologists, and other professionals to deliver safe, cost-effective care across diverse settings.

Requirements include Accredited Nursing Program completion and RN licensure in Alabama; a BSN is preferred. BLS is required, with ACLS/PALS depending on unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
• If job is in a free-standing emergency department (FSED) location, one (1) year of emergency or ICU nursing experience is required.
• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care using the nursing process to promote health and prevent illness.
• Delegate, coordinate and manage all aspects of nursing care for patients and families.
• Collaborate with the health care team, including physicians, psychologists, podiatrists, and dentists.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to patients and communities.
