Job summary

Mercy seeks a registered nurse for the 3300 ICU Stepdown unit in Fort Smith, AR. You will apply the nursing process, monitor cardiac and neuro patients, manage IVs and post-procedural care, and coordinate with the care team to ensure safe, effective outcomes.

Requirements include RN licensure in the hiring state or a compact license, ACLS and BLS, and at least 1 year of experience. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for full-time RNs.

Job description

Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Position Details

SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE 10,000 Sign On Bonus for full-time RNs with at least 1 year of experience NO CONTRACT 3300 ICU Stepdown (3300) Bed Numbers: 18 Nurse to Patient Ratio: 4:1 Patient Population: Caring for a diverse stepdown population that includes cardiovascular and neurosurgical patients. Nurses manage stable cardiac and insulin drips, monitor post-procedural patients (including cardioversions, pacemaker insertions, and CABG recovery), and provide care for patients requiring BiPAP, Airvo, and chest tubes. Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, and CKD. This unit values strong cardiac and neurological assessment skills, including NIHSS competency. Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Qualifications

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period. Must have ACLS and BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
