Job summary

City of Hope in Goodyear, AZ, seeks an experienced ICU/inpatient nurse to join our acute care team. You will assess patients, provide care, educate families, and collaborate with physicians to tailor treatment plans for complex cases.

The role requires monitoring, IV therapy, and the ability to care for ventilated patients, with 12-hour shifts. A current AZ RN license and BLS/ACLS certifications are required or in progress.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in ICU/inpatient nursing.
• Arizona registered nurse license or compact state license.
• BLS certification required on hire; ACLS within 30 days and renew every two years.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration card within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with physicians to evaluate patient readiness for change in level of care.
• Responsible for the assessment, treatment care and education of patients; cares for ICU, medical surgical, and telemetry patients as necessary.
• Ability to conduct risk assessment, prevention and treatment of pressure injury.
• Ability to interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms/trends, and institute appropriate interventions.
• Care for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients.
• Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters & arterial lines.
• Safe use of less invasive, life‑supporting modalities such as BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure‑based CO/CI & SVO2 monitor, core temperature monitors.

• Maintenance and care of patients with an ostomy/ileostomy and urostomy.
• Care for, assess and monitor patients with patient‑controlled analgesia (PCA) and epidural catheters.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of chemotherapeutic/immunotherapeutic agents.
• Must be able to work 2 12’s, 7:00 p‑7:30 a.m.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in ICU/inpatient nursing.
• Associate degree in nursing or equivalent.
• Arizona registered nurse license or a registered nurse license from a compact state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required upon hire; if current certification does not meet the guidelines, employee must acquire and attend an onsite initial BLS course within 30 days of hire and renew every two years.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification – employee must acquire ACLS certification within 30 days of hire and renew every two years; employee will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until cards are obtained.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration card within 6 months of hire and renewal every two years.
