Job summary

City of Hope in Goodyear, AZ is seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care for critically ill adults. You will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to evaluate readiness for changes in care level and deliver comprehensive assessment, treatment, and education for ICU, telemetry and med-surg patients.

The ideal candidate has 1 year of ICU/inpatient experience, an AZ RN license (or compact state), and current BLS; ACLS within 30 days of hire and

Qualifications

  • 1 year ICU/inpatient experience
  • Arizona RN license (or compact state)
  • BLS certification required on hire (AHA/other approved)
  • ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire and renewed every 2 years
  • ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Card within 6 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for changes in level of care.
  • Responsible for the assessment, treatment care and education of ICU, Medical Surgical, and telemetry patients as necessary.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessment, prevention and treatment of pressure injury.
  • Interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize rhythms/trends, and institute interventions.
  • Care for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients.
  • Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive meds, central lines, dialysis catheters, arterial lines.
  • Safe use of life-support modalities (BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial-line monitoring).
  • Care for patients with IV lines, arterial lines, central lines, ports, chest tubes, and endotracheal tubes.
  • Maintenance and care of ostomies/urostomy as applicable.
  • Care for patients with PCA and epidural catheters.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of chemotherapeutic/immunotherapeutic agents.
  • Must be able to work 3 12s, 7:00a-7:30p

The successful candidate:
  • Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for change in level of care.
  • Responsible for the assessment, treatment care and education of patients. Cares for ICU, Medical Surgical, and telemetry patients as necessary.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessment, prevention and treatment of pressure injury
  • Ability to interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms/trends, and institute appropriate interventions.
  • Care for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients.
  • Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters & arterial lines.
  • Safe use of less invasive, life supporting modalities i.e. BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure- based CO/CI & SVO2 monitor, core temperature monitors.
  • Ability to care for patients with IV lines, arterial lines, central lines, ports, chest tubes, pleural catheters, tracheostomy tubes and endotracheal tubes.
  • Maintenance and care of patients with an ostomy/ileostomy and urostomy.
  • Care for, assess and monitor patients with Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and epidural catheters.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of chemotherapeutic/immunotherapeutic agents.
  • Must be able to work 3 12's, 7:00a-7:30p
Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
  • 1 year experience in ICU/Inpatient
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification-an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, employees will have (30) days from the date of hire to acquire attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification-employees will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained.
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Card within 6 months of hire and renewal every two years.
