Job summary

City of Hope is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse for night shift coverage in Goodyear. The nurse will care for ICU, medical-surgical and telemetry patients, collaborating with physicians to assess readiness for changes in level of care and providing education to patients and families.

Required qualifications include 1 year ICU/inpatient experience, ADN or RN equivalent, AZ RN license or compact-state license, BLS on hire, ACLS within 30 days, and ONS chemotherapy immunotherapy card within 6

Qualifications

• 1 year ICU/inpatient experience required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or equivalent.
• Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Compact State RN license.
• BLS certification required on hire and ACLS certification within 30 days of hire; renewal every two years.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Administration Card within 6 months of hire and renewed every two years.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for changes in level of care.
• Assess, treat, educate and care for ICU, Medical-Surgical, and telemetry patients as needed.
• Perform risk assessment, prevention and treatment of pressure injuries.
• Interpret and respond to cardiac and other invasive/noninvasive monitors; identify rhythms and trends and intervene as needed.
• Care for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and ventilated patients.
• Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including vasoactive medications and central/arterial lines.
• Utilize less invasive life-support modalities and manage lines, catheters, and drains.
• Maintain ostomy/ileostomy and urostomy care; manage PCA and epidural catheters.

Must be able to work 3 12's, 7:00p-7:30a, night shift differential is 18% for 12 hour shifts

• Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for change in level of care.
• Responsible for the assessment, treatment care and education of patients. Cares for ICU, Medical Surgical, and telemetry patients as necessary.
• Ability to conduct risk assessment, prevention and treatment of pressure injury
• Ability to interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms/trends, and institute appropriate interventions.
• Care for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients.
• Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters & arterial lines.
• Safe use of less invasive, life supporting modalities i.e. BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure- based CO/CI & SVO2 monitor, core temperature monitors.
• Ability to care for patients with IV lines, arterial lines, central lines, ports, chest tubes, pleural catheters, tracheostomy tubes and endotracheal tubes.
• Maintenance and care of patients with an ostomy/ileostomy and urostomy.
• Care for, assess and monitor patients with Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and epidural catheters.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of chemotherapeutic/immunotherapeutic agents.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

• 1 year experience in ICU/Inpatient
• Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent
• Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, employees will have (30) days from the date of hire to acquire attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification-employees will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained.
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Card within 6 months of hire and renewal every two years.
