Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a Registered Nurse for ICU nights to provide comprehensive care for ICU, telemetry, and medical-surgical patients. You will assess needs, collaborate with physicians, and deliver education to patients and families.

The role requires 1 year ICU/inpatient experience, an ADN or equivalent, an Arizona RN license (or compact-state license), and BLS/ACLS. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is offered. Night shifts run 7:00 pm–7:30 am with 18% shift differential.

Qualifications

• 1 year ICU/Inpatient experience required.
• Arizona RN license or compact-state license.
• BLS certification required on hire; ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Card within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with physicians to evaluate patient readiness for changes in level of care.
• Assess, treat, educate patients; care for ICU, medical-surgical, and telemetry patients as needed.
• Perform risk assessment and prevention of pressure injuries.
• Interpret and respond to cardiac and other monitors; intervene as needed.
• Care for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically unstable and ventilated patients.
• Manage IV therapies, central lines, arterial lines, and related devices.
• Monitor and care for patients with ostomies, PCA, epidural catheters.
• Demonstrate knowledge of chemotherapeutic/immunotherapeutic agents.

The successful candidate:

• Must be able to work 3 12's, 7:00p-7:30a, night shift differential is 18% for 12 hour shifts

• Collaborates with Physicians to evaluate patient readiness for change in level of care.

• Responsible for the assessment, treatment care and education of patients. Cares for ICU, Medical Surgical, and telemetry patients as necessary.

• Ability to conduct risk assessment, prevention and treatment of pressure injury

• Ability to interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and noninvasive monitors, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms/trends, and institute appropriate interventions.

• Care for patients with complex needs including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients.

• Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters & arterial lines.

• Safe use of less invasive, life supporting modalities i.e. BiPAP, ETCO2, arterial pressure- based CO/CI & SVO2 monitor, core temperature monitors.

• Ability to care for patients with IV lines, arterial lines, central lines, ports, chest tubes, pleural catheters, tracheostomy tubes and endotracheal tubes.

• Maintenance and care of patients with an ostomy/ileostomy and urostomy.

• Care for, assess and monitor patients with Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) and epidural catheters.

• Demonstrates basic knowledge of chemotherapeutic/immunotherapeutic agents.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

• 1 year experience in ICU/Inpatient

• Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent

• Arizona Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification-an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site, American Safety & Health Institute, or Red Cross BLS certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, employees will have (30) days from the date of hire to acquire attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years.

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification-employees will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained.

• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Card within 6 months of hire and renewal every two years.
