Lambstaffing is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a hospital in Macon, GA. The role involves caring for adult medical ICU patients with 1:1 to 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios, including those on ventilators and requiring invasive monitoring.

Requirements include active GA RN license, 2+ years ICU experience, and BLS/ACLS. This travel assignment supports a teaching hospital with comprehensive resources and 24/7 coverage.

Qualifications

Responsabilités

• Provide direct patient care for Medical ICU patients.
• Monitor and titrate vasoactive medications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team.
• Assist/manage bedside procedures (chest tube, trach care).

About Facility:

• o 637 licensed beds
• o Level 1 Trauma Designation
• o Teaching Hospital
• o Chest Pain Center
• o Stroke Center

Unit Information:

• o Beds: 14
• Average census: 14
• o Experience: 2+ years ICU RN experience
• o First-time travelers welcome

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• o Medical ICU patients
• o Common diagnoses: respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI Bleed, DKA, hypotension, hypertension, stroke, pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, overdoses
• o Chronic ventilators and chronic trachs
• o Hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring and/or close observation

Patient Ratios:

• o RN: 1:1-2 (rarely but possible 3)
• o CNA: 1-2 per shift

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

• o NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS certification required
• o CCRN (critical care nursing certification) preferred but not required

Skills required:

• o trach chare, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, drips to titrate to HR and BP
• o Management of vasoactive medications
• o Monitoring and management of invasive lines i.e. arterial lines, central venous lines, pulse oximetry, intracranial pressure monitoring
• o Assist/management of a variety of bedside procedures i.e. chest tube placement/management, tracheostomy, peg tube placement
• o TABLO
• o Management of patients on ventilator support

Support within the Department:

• o CNA duties: Yes - assist with VS, Glucose Checks, baths, feeding, ambulating patients, assisting turning patients, hourly rounding, transporting patients as needed (Hospital has designated Transport Team); obtain blood from blood bank
• o Unit secretary/HUC: Unit secretary on unit 7a-11p; then house wide call secretary 11p-7a
• o Charge nurse - may have patients
• o Phlebotomy: Most units are lab collect phlebotomy; nurses drawn from CVLs
• o IV/VAT team: Not an IV team - do have a PICC team
• o Resource nurse: Yes, we have discharge nurses, resource team floats to all units
• o RT 24/7: yes
• o Hospitalist 24/7: yes
• o Intensivist 24/7: yes
• o Telemetry monitor tech: Central Telemetry Unit

Floating:

• o All adult ICU units in house including PCU

Orientation (facility and unit):

• o 1 day orientation with work on educational modules
• o 2 days departmental

Active state license in good standing; minimum 1 year of recent experience in the specialty; BLS, ACLS required for clinical roles; references upon request
