Job summary

Spring View Hospital in Lebanon, KY is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Intensive Care Unit. This full-time day position involves 7a-7p shifts with every other weekend, and requires critical care skills for a 7-bed ICU.

You’ll provide high-level nursing care, monitor ventilators, titrate drips, and ensure patient safety across the health care team. Required are an active RN license, BLS within 30 days, ACLS/PALS within 12 months, and at least one year of ICU or acute care experience.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS required within 12 months of hire.
• One year of ICU/acute care experience preferred.
• Handle with Care training to be completed within 30 days of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Perform plan of care interventions including medication administration, specimen collection and clinical treatments.
• Document patient care accurately and timely.
• Monitor, record and communicate patient condition to care team, physician, patient and family.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Coordinate patient care with other disciplines, including transfers and discharges.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Spring View Hospital embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing specialized care to critically ill patients. This is a 7-bed unit that ensures patients receive optimal medical attention and support.

How you'll contribute

The RN demonstrates professional development and clinical competency; utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
• Documents patient care given.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Floats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Able to manage ventilators, cpap/bipap, vapotherms.
• Able to titrate and maintain critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Must pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire/transfer.

What we're looking for

• RN license required
• Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS is required within 12 months of hire.
• One year of experience required
• Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually
