Job summary

Spring View Hospital in Lebanon, KY seeks an experienced ICU nurse for a part-time night shift (7PM–7AM, 24 hours/week on weekends). The ICU is a 7-bed unit offering specialized critical care to the sickest patients.

Responsibilities include implementing care plans, med administration, documenting care, and collaborating with the care team. Requires RN license, BLS, ACLS/PALS within specified timelines, and potentially certification-based prerequisites.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS and PALS certification within 12 months of hire.
• One year of nursing experience preferred.
• Handle With Care certification earned within 30 days of orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process.
• Administer medications, collect specimens, and perform clinical treatments.
• Document patient care provided accurately.
• Monitor and communicate patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams for transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial support.
• Educate patients and families based on age, culture, and condition.
• Advocate for patient physical and emotional well-being.
• Float to other departments to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
• Manage ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and Vapotherm devices.
• Titrate and maintain critical drips; know indications, contraindications, and side effects.
• Pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire or transfer.

About the ICU

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Spring View Hospital is a 7‑bed unit dedicated to providing specialized care to critically ill patients.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate professional development and clinical competency using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Document patient care provided.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate care (transfer, discharge, referral, spiritual/psychosocial support).
• Evaluate learning needs of patients and/or families and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.
• Float to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse‑to‑patient ratios.
• Manage ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, and Vapotherm devices.
• Titrate and maintain critical drips on ICU patients, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.
