Job summary

Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS seeks an experienced Intensive Care RN to provide advanced care for critically ill patients. You will monitor patients, coordinate with the medical team, and respond rapidly to changing conditions during 12-hour day shifts from 7:00am to 7:00pm.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS certification required at hire and maintained.
• ACLS certification required within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• Critical Care Course completion preferred.
• BBSN preferred and CC RN certification encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients by performing assessments and developing care plans.
• Use advanced monitoring equipment and manage life-support devices as needed.
• Safely administer medications and fluids with precise dosing and monitor responses.
• Document care activities to ensure continuity and infection control.
• Provide support to families and collaborate with the medical team to modify care plans.

Location: Providence Medical Center - Kansas City, KS
The Intensive Care RN (ICU RN) will be responsible for providing intensive care to patients with life-threatening conditions. The ICU RN will have advanced skills in critical care settings, make quick decision s , and will be compassionate to all patient s . An ICU RN monitors vital signs, blood oxygen levels, administer IV Fluids, and communicates effectively to the medical team to modify care plans accordingly.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients by performing detailed assessments, developing care plans, and implementing complex nursing interventions
• Use advanced equipment like cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and capnography devices to continuously track vital signs and physiological parameters
• Safely administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products with precise dosing and timing, closely monitoring patient responses to ensure effectiveness and prevent adverse reactions
• Manage life-support devices such as ventilators, dialysis machines, and cardiac monitors
• Provide emotional support and education to patients' families, acting as a liaison to ensure they understand the care being provided
• Document all aspects of patient care to ensure continuity and compliance while rigorously maintaining infection control and safety protocols to protect vulnerable patients

Qualifications

Education, Work Experience & Qualifications:

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
• Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
