Job summary

Rhode Island Hospital seeks a registered nurse supervisor under the Clinical Manager to implement, supervise, and evaluate nursing care for each patient using the nursing process and hospital policies. From admission to discharge, care plans consider aging, development, and culture, aligning with Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

The role includes leadership, teaching, and participation in unit-based quality improvement, with a day shift and Monday–Friday schedule in

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in Rhode Island.
• Knowledge of nursing process and life-span care.
• Ability to supervise and delegate to ancillary staff.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Provides leadership by delegating, supervising and participating in safe nursing care activities provided by ancillary personnel.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, family and community services regarding the patient care outcome/discharge planning.
• Assesses and provides appropriate teaching based on patient and family needs.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
• Utilizes all available resources to provide quality, cost effective patient care.
• Maintains clinical competencies and completes required education.
• Identifies growth needs and participates in educational opportunities and professional organizations.
• Serves as a role model/preceptor to new graduates and less experienced staff.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibility for the patient care unit as delegated.
