Job summary

Qualifications

Must hold a New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.
Direct patient care in medical/surgical settings.
Supervises and trains Graduate Nurses and direct care staff.

Responsibilities

Prepares or assists with nursing care plans aligned with treatment plans.
Carries out treatments, administers medications, monitors patient conditions.
Records nursing notes, medications, treatments, and vital signs in medical records.
Participates in development and revision of individual care plans as part of the team.
Modifies care plans based on patient condition and responses to treatment.
Triages patients by symptoms and records findings.
Refer to physicians in emergencies or assist with treatment as directed.
Provides education to patients and families about health, medications and goals.
Practices infection control policies and procedures.
May train paraprofessional staff in nursing techniques.
