SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn seeks a full-time Registered Nurse I, NS61 Medical/Surgical, to join the Department of Nursing.

Under the supervision of a higher level nurse, you will provide direct nursing care, administer medications, record vital signs and treatments, participate in care planning, and help train staff as needed. The role requires NYS license and readiness for a busy academic medical center.

Competenze

• Current New York State license as a registered professional nurse (RN).
• BSN preferred for this role.
• Familiarity with hospital nursing workflows and patient care planning.

Mansioni

• Prepares or assists nursing care plans aligned with treatment plans and medical needs.
• Administers medications and monitors patient conditions.
• Records nursing notes, care plans, medications, treatments, and vital signs.
• Participates in multidisciplinary care teams to develop and revise care plans.
• Triages patients and escalates to physicians as needed; provides education and counseling to patients and families.
• Ensures infection control policies are followed and may train paraprofessional staff.
