Job description

• Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients according to medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures
• Provide nursing services to patients and families within the scope of an RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
• Plan, provide, and document nursing care under the supervision of the team leader or charge nurse
• Delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers
• Assist other healthcare personnel in delivering patient care
• Maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources
• Organize and prioritize work and identify resources to complete care in a timely manner
• Maintain competencies, identify learning needs, and pursue educational offerings
• Support the development of other staff and formal learners
• Identify clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and assist with improvement activities
• Document assessments, care plans, interventions, evaluations, and patient-status reassessments
• Assess nursing needs of acutely and chronically ill patients and seek appropriate resources
• Educate patients and families according to the nursing plan of care
• Manage relationships with patients, families, visitors, healthcare teams, physicians, administrators, and leadership
• Collaborate on innovation initiatives involving smart rooms, automated signage, virtual care-team access, predictive fall-prevention tools, ambient listening, and workflow improvements

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program
• RNs without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) must enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and complete it within seven years
• Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure to practice in North Carolina
• Nurses with a multi-state compact license must obtain NC state licensure within the first 90 days of employment
• BLS Certification
• Ability to plan, provide, and document professional nursing care using the nursing process
• Ability to delegate tasks and supervise licensed and unlicensed care providers
• Ability to collaborate with healthcare personnel and multidisciplinary teams
