Job description

  • Provide comprehensive patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement individualized interventions, and evaluate outcomes
  • Include patients and families in care planning and maintain therapeutic relationships throughout the healthcare continuum
  • Recognize changes in patient condition and coordinate appropriate interventions and resources
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient-centered care
  • Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase patient safety
  • Assess patient and family readiness to learn and address learning needs
  • Coordinate discharge planning using an interdisciplinary approach
  • Apply evidence-based practice and nursing and regulatory standards
  • Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes and support shared governance initiatives
  • Communicate effectively, provide feedback, resolve conflicts, and promote healthcare team collaboration
  • Lead the care team and delegate appropriately to unlicensed personnel
  • Identify patient-safety threats, report safety events and near misses, and assist with corrective actions
  • Apply ethical decision-making and participate as an effective member of the patient care team
  • Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives
  • Engage in professional development, mentoring, required meetings, educational programs, and annual competencies
  • Float across multiple acute-care facilities within the defined market as part of the Zone 2 multi-site float pool
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing
  • Ability to provide holistic, patient- and family-focused care
  • Ability to recognize situational changes requiring unplanned or unanticipated interventions
  • Proficient computer skills, electronic mail, and electronic medical records systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop rapport and maintain positive professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians

  • Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
  • Must maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications
