The Registered Nurse assumes primary leadership accountability and responsibility for milieu management and directing patient care activities of other nursing staff. The RN maintains standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with facility policies, external governing bodies, performance improvement standards, and psychiatric nursing standards.
Responsibilities include assessing patients, formulating individualized care plans, implementing interventions, evaluating outcomes, and ensuring safe medication delivery. The RN documents thoroughly and maintains licensure through ongoing professional development, all in compliance with regulations and standards.
Subject to interruptions, high-paced, and potentially stressful. The role involves 12-hour rotating shifts, with exposure to odors, sights, and unpredictable patient behavior. The environment is primarily indoors, protecting from weather but not temperature extremes.
