Training: Training for this position requires flexibility to work full time (1.0 FTE) on-site for 4-6 weeks. Our training shifts are variable including days, mid-shift, evenings, and weekends.
Following training, we work remotely. The work from home location is required to be within driving distance from Midway Corporate Campus in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Schedule: This opening is 0.6 FTE (48 hours per two weeks) on our day shift with an every weekend rotation. Weekday shifts with support our ED Lab result team, weekend shifts will support our Nurse Advisor team, with floating between duties as needed.
As RN Advisors, we independently triage calls from patients inquiring about their symptoms, medication refills, test results, and information regarding our facilities. We handle approximately 6 calls per hour with calls lasting 6-9 minutes in duration. We are advocates, assisting callers through the health care system.
In accordance with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing Practice Act, the Fairview ED lab result follow-up RN primary responsibility is to lead the Fairview/MHealth ED lab result pools (Epic) for the following Emergency Departments: Fairview Ridges (RH), Fairview Southdale (SH) Fairview Northland (PH), Fairview Lakes (WY), U of MN/MHealth East (UU) and West Bank (UR), Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital (GICH), and the Urgent Care clinic at Fairview Lake Wyoming.
Responsibilities include:
Contact certain patient’s with lab results and used RN assessment skills, document telephone encounter in Epic
Send Rx’s in appropriate pharmacy’s educate patient/parent - all actions subject to protocol.
Using the nursing process, the ED Lab Result RN facilitates access to the health care system and/or negotiates a satisfactory resolution to the clients' concern.
Qualifications:
Knowledge in microbiology preferred
