Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Float Pool Nurse to provide direct nursing care across multiple units in a Magnet-designated teaching hospital. You will adapt to diverse clinical settings, including medical-surgical, telemetry, intermediate care, and ED boarding, while collaborating with physician partners to support patient care plans.

The role requires at least two years of critical care experience, DC RN license, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• At least two full years of recent critical care (inpatient ICU) nursing experience.
• Active DC RN License upon hire and BLS for Healthcare Providers required.

Responsibilities

At our 532-bed academic medical facility and teaching hospital, nurses are encouraged to grow in their profession, collaborate with physician partners and actively participate in the plan of care for acute and vulnerable patients throughout the hospital.

As a Float Pool Nurse, you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care across multiple patient care units, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. You will work as a versatile member of our nursing team who adapts to different clinical settings, including but not limited to medical-surgical, telemetry, intermediate care, and boarding patients in our emergency department. This position requires flexibility, critical thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide skilled, compassionate care to patients and families across a spectrum of needs—from routine to highly complex. You will assess evolving patient conditions, identify actual and potential health concerns, and develop appropriate care plans. Interventions may be delivered directly or coordinated through collaboration with other members of the nursing team.

Qualifications

• Ability to work night shifts.
• Academic Medical Center experience preferred.

• This position has a hiring range of : USD $42.00 - USD $69.43 /Hr.
