Job summary

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team in Lubbock, TX. You will assess and plan care for adolescent to geriatric patients in acute care settings, administer medications, educate families, and participate in care coordination with the health care team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Currently licensed in the state of Texas.
• BSN preferred.
• BCLS and ACLS required.
• 2-5 years’ experience in cardiac care setting
• Minimum of 1 year experience in PACU

Responsibilities

• Assesses the physical, biophysical and health education needs of adolescent, adult, and geriatric acute care patients.
• Gathers pertinent patient care data using all available resources.
• Establishes a nursing plan of care, including measurable short and long-term goals.
• Prepares a discharge plan and follow-up appropriate to patient and family needs.
• Supervises staffing and participates in monthly staffing planning.
• Implements interventions for age-specific acute care patients.
• Safely and accurately administers medications in acute care units.
• Provides patient and family education for all age groups.
• Communicates with health care team and other parties in care delivery.
• Documents nursing care for legal medical records.
• Operates equipment in acute care units.
• Maintains a safe environment for patients.
• Care for procedures requiring analgesia, sedation and anesthesia.
• May participate in committees and in-service trainings.
