Role Purpose

Performs an expanded perioperative role as a first assistant to surgeons during surgical procedures in the operating room. Works alongside the surgeon to provide direct patient care, collaborating with the perioperative team, patient support persons, and other healthcare providers to plan and deliver care.

Responsibilities

1. Delivers intraoperative patient care as the first assistant to the surgeon, performing pre-operative assessments, analyzing data, and communicating patient outcomes.
2. Functions as a team member in the surgical team, considering safety, effectiveness, efficiency, environment, and cost in patient care planning, delivery, and evaluation.
3. Monitors patient responses, modifies care plans, administers medications, and manages perioperative care related to RNFA interventions.
4. Participates in professional development, evaluates practice standards, and contributes to colleagues' growth.
5. Integrates knowledge and skills to meet patient and family needs, including education, research application, ethical practice, advocacy, and leadership.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
• Experience: 2-5 years
• Licenses & Certifications: RN license

Preferred Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
• Licenses & Certifications: Certified First Assistant, CNOR, Certified RN First Assistant
