Barnes Jewish West County Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility that opened in November 2019. We seek Registered Nurses to join our learning and growing team.

Position Highlights

• $15,000 Sign-On Bonus Eligible*
• (4) 10-hour shifts, Call Required
• Shift: 0630 - 1700
• BSN Required
• Cert Nurse OR (CNOR) Required

The RFNA is a preoperative RN with advanced surgical first assisting training. The role involves assisting surgeons, providing pre- and postoperative care, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, clinical expertise, and can thrive in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Overview

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers specialized surgical and medical services in a welcoming environment, known for outstanding patient care. The facility features 64 private rooms, 14 operating rooms, and 4 ICU rooms, designed for comfort, efficiency, and patient-centered care. The campus includes a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path connecting to Millennium Park.

The Perioperative Services team collaborates with physicians and healthcare professionals to deliver excellent surgical care, combining the intimacy of a small community hospital with the resources of BJC HealthCare and Washington University Medical School. Our dedicated staff continuously aim to improve community health.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The RNFA performs as a first assistant during surgeries, working alongside surgeons to provide direct patient care, collaborating with the perioperative team, and engaging with patients and families in care planning.

Responsibilities

1. Deliver intraoperative care as a first assistant, performing preoperative assessments, analyzing data, and communicating patient outcomes.
2. Contribute to surgical team efficiency, considering safety, effectiveness, and cost factors in patient care planning and delivery.
3. Monitor patient responses, modify care plans, administer medications per standards, and develop individualized perioperative plans involving RNFA interventions.
4. Engage in professional development, evaluate practice standards, and contribute to colleagues' growth.
5. Utilize knowledge and research to meet patient and family needs, practice ethically, advocate for safety, and provide professional leadership.
6. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe work practices.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Experience

• 2-5 years RN experience

Licenses & Certifications

• RN License
• CNOR Certification

Preferred Requirements

• 5-10 years RN experience
• Certified First Assistant certification
