Job summary

Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Labor & Delivery and Postpartum Unit. This FT Nights role includes 7p-7a shifts with weekend and holiday requirements, caring for mothers and newborns and supporting families through labor and postpartum recovery.

You'll collaborate with obstetricians, CNMs, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and lactation consultants to deliver evidence-based, family-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Education: 4-year/bachelor's degree; graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Experience: One year of relevant nursing experience preferred.
• Licensure: Active RN license in the appropriate state required; refresher course may be required if lapsed.

Responsibilities

• Lead care as a RN on Labor & Delivery, coordinating with the patient’s support system.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate a care plan with the team.
• Support mothers and newborns through labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.

Education

As a Registered Nurse on the Labor & Delivery and Postpartum Unit at Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center, you'll provide compassionate, evidence-based care to mothers and newborns throughout one of life's most meaningful journeys. From supporting patients during labor and delivery to caring for families during the postpartum recovery period, you'll play a vital role in ensuring safe, high-quality outcomes for both mother and baby.

In this dynamic environment, you'll care for patients with a variety of obstetric and postpartum needs, including labor management, induction of labor, cesarean section recovery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, breastfeeding support, and maternal and fetal monitoring. You'll collaborate closely with obstetricians, certified nurse midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, lactation consultants, and other interdisciplinary team members to deliver exceptional family-centered care.

What You'll Do

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health or supports a peaceful death. The Registered Nurse utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.


• Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.


• Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
