Job summary

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a full-time night shift (3:00 PM - 3:00 AM). You will deliver direct patient care to a wide age range with a typical 4:1 ratio in a high-acuity ED.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; RN license active.
• One year relevant ED or acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with an average 4:1 patient ratio.
• Perform rapid assessments and prioritize care using triage principles.
• Monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and emergency treatments.
• Initiate and manage IV access, cardiac monitoring, and other emergency interventions.
• Care for patients with cardiac, respiratory, neurological, endocrine, or behavioral emergencies.
• Assist with emergency procedures, code situations, and resuscitation efforts.
• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, respiratory therapists, imaging teams, and others.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and follow-up care.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the EMR.
• Advocate for patient safety while delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)

Forsyth Medical Center | Full-Time Nights (3:00 PM - 3:00 AM) | Winston-Salem, NC

Join the region's busiest and most advanced Emergency Department. Our Emergency Room serves patients across 15 counties. As an ED RN, you'll provide expert care to patients of all ages, from infants to geriatrics, with a typical 4:1 patient ratio. The department sees approximately 190 to 240 patients daily and cares for a wide range of conditions, including cardiac emergencies, respiratory distress, diabetic crises, behavioral health concerns, and other acute medical conditions.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
• Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
