Job summary

Novant Health's Emergency Department at Thomasville Medical Center seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join a 26-bed unit providing immediate care for a wide range of emergencies. Night shift, full-time, 7pm–7am, with a strong emphasis on autonomy and collaboration with physicians and staff.

Candidates should have graduated from an accredited nursing program, hold active RN licensure, and have at least one year of acute nursing experience, plus BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
• One year of acute nursing experience is required.
• Current RN licensure in appropriate state is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
• Collaborate with physicians and other team members to promote optimal health or support a peaceful death.

What We Offer

Our Emergency Department is a 26 bed unit that specializes in providing immediate medical care for patients with server or urgent illnesses or injuries. It is equipped to handle a wide range of services, including initial assessment, treatment, stabilization, emergencies, from minor injuries to life‑threatening conditions and potentially admission to the hospital. Our preferred patient ratio is 4:1.

What You'll Do

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health or supports a peaceful death.

The Registered Nurse utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
• If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
• Experience: One year of acute nursing experience required.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.
