Job summary

Birch Agency in West Chester, PA seeks a skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse for a contract position to work nights 7:00 PM–7:00 AM. You will perform rapid assessments, triage, and deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced ED.

You will monitor vitals and rhythms, administer medications and fluids, initiate emergency interventions, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Strong NICU? No—focus is broad emergent care with documentation and family education.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the applicable state.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred or required by facility needs.
• All required background clearances must be completed and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid assessments and triage patients based on acuity and clinical needs.
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
• Initiate and assist with emergency interventions, procedures, and resuscitation efforts.
• Operate and monitor emergency and other advanced medical equipment.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide care for patients with medical, surgical, traumatic, cardiac, neurological, and other emergent conditions.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation.
• Support patient transfers, admissions, discharges, and coordination of follow-up care.

Job Description

Birch Agency is seeking skilled and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our emergency department team in West Chester, PA. The Emergency Room Registered Nurse provides timely, efficient, and patient-centered care to individuals experiencing a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.

The Emergency Room Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, prioritizing, and treating patients in a fast-paced hospital environment. This role requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and effective collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in the applicable state.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred or required based on facility needs.
• All required background clearances must be completed and maintained.

Work Environment

This position is based in a fast-paced hospital emergency department serving patients with a broad range of conditions and acuity levels. The Registered Nurse must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the facility.
