Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments with vital signs, history taking and documentation.
• Provide immediate emergency interventions (airway management, IV, suturing) to stabilize patients.
• Manage acute pain with appropriate medications and pain-control strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create individualized care plans for trauma and critical illness patients.
• Conduct diagnostics using labs, specimen collection, and imaging interpretation (CT, ultrasound).
• Assist procedures requiring specialized skills (catheterization, ventilator management, resuscitation).
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant documentation and accurate coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
• Support discharge planning and patient education for home or long-term care.

Job Overview

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using advanced EMR/EHR systems.
• Deliver immediate emergency interventions such as airway management, IV infusion, suturing, and aseptic technique to stabilize patients.
• Manage acute pain through appropriate medication administration and non-pharmacological methods while ensuring compliance with pain management protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with complex needs including trauma, infectious diseases, or chronic conditions.
• Conduct diagnostic evaluations utilizing laboratory testing, specimen collection/processing, and interpretation of diagnostic imaging such as CT scans or sonography.
• Assist in procedures requiring specialized skills such as catheterization (cardiac or urinary), ventilator management, or neonatal resuscitation procedures.
• Maintain detailed medical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations and ensure accurate coding using ICD-10/ICD-9 standards for billing purposes.
• Participate in discharge planning and patient education to promote recovery at home or in long-term care settings.
• Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
• Provide support during high-stakes situations including Level I and Level II trauma cases or critical care scenarios in ICU or PICU environments.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license with current registration; additional certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program are required.
• Minimum of two years of emergency room experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
• Extensive critical care experience including ICU, trauma medicine, or post-operative recovery is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of advanced procedures including suturing, catheterization (cardiac or urinary), ventilator management, and infectious disease protocols.
• Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), laboratory experience, specimen collection/processing, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and anatomy relevant to emergency medicine.
• Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
• Ability to perform under pressure in high-stakes environments while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
