Job summary

UCF Lake Nona Hospital in Orlando, FL seeks a Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in an acute care setting. You will collaborate with providers, document care, and advocate for patients within the care team using established nursing models.

Qualifications

  • Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required.
  • 1+ years of RN experience in an acute care environment preferred
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required within 30 days of start
  • ACLS Provider certification required within 6 months of employment start

  • Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassessment after interventions.
  • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider and documents care in the patient record.
  • Responds promptly to patient requests and anticipates needs to deliver exceptional care.
  • Teaches patients and families about medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects; translates complex medical terminology.
  • Prepares patients and families for future self-management and healthy lifestyle changes.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

  • Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.
What qualifications you will need
  • Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
  • 1+ years of RN experience in an acute care environment preferred
  • Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree, BSN is preferred
  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of start
  • American Heart Association ACLS Provider issued card required within 6 months of employment start
