Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide individualized nursing assessments and coordinate comprehensive care for patients of all ages. You will develop care plans, educate patients and families, and collaborate with physicians and the health team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited program or ADN with commitment to complete BSN/MSN within 2 years.
• Illinois license to practice as a registered nurse.
• Current CPR or BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Understanding of growth and development across infant to geriatric populations.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ownership mindset for patient, team and organization.
• Willingness to adapt to changing work demands.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and sound judgment.
• Ability to assist with patient transfer/positioning up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients, including specialized treatments and medication administration.
• Collect patient data to formulate nursing diagnoses and care plans.
• Assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Develop and adjust nursing diagnoses and care plans as needed.
• Assess patients, identify changes, set priorities, and recognize crises.
• Implement and evaluate interventions per care plan and adjust as required.
• Educate patients and families on care, home care, and referrals.
• Document and report patient care plans and progress to the health team.
• Review and contribute to SRAlab policies related to patient care.
