Job summary

Baptist Health South is seeking an RN for the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) team in Jacksonville, FL. The CVOR nurse will participate in sedation, assist physicians, monitor vital signs, and ensure sterility and equipment readiness throughout procedures.

Responsibilities include patient care using the nursing process, coordinating with staff, involving families in care planning, and educating patients about their condition and plan of care. 1–2 years OR nursing experience required.

Qualifications

• RN with active license and BLS/ACLS certification.
• 1–2 years of operating room nursing experience preferred.
• Experience with cardiothoracic/vascular cases is desirable.

Baptist South is hiring Registered Nurses for our Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Team in Jacksonville, FL.

The nurse in this role will work as part of the surgical services and operating room teams that treat cardiovascular patients. The individual will assist with patient care, ensure that sterile procedures are followed during surgery, take stock of necessary equipment and medications are needed by the operating room team, and that the patient’s safety and well-being is advocated for.

The CVOR nurse will be responsible for the care of cardiovascular patients before, during, and following surgical procedures. The CVOR nurse will participate in the sedation of patients and assist physicians during the procedure by administering medications, monitoring vital signs and applying dressings. The CVOR nurse coordinates the entire operating room with respect to sterility, cleanliness and availability of functioning equipment and supplies, as well as provides critical quality control to ensure the patient’s safety.

As an RN in the CVOR Unit, you will be responsible for:

• Providing for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process

• Supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services

• Including patients and significant others (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care

• Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care

• Coordinating and preparing assigned operating room/case

• Assessment of patient care needs and the anticipation of needs of the case

• Circulating, scrubbing, assisting on Cardiothoracic and vascular procedures

Experience Requirements:

• 1-2 years Operating Room Nursing Experience Required
